In 25 April 1974, Portugal started the Carnation Revolution, that released itself from the authoritarian dictatorship. In Brazil, however, the Institutional Act #5, approved six years before, completely turned the country into a military dictatorship, censoring all forms of freedom of speech. For those who didn’t approved the dictatorship, the Carnation Revolution was a relief. Chico Buarque, hearing about the news, composed this song, that was censored by the government, and then in 1979 released another one, slightly different. This is the original censored version, made in 1974.
